What to Expect

A Complete First Visit — Not Just a Treatment

Most acupuncture clinics rush through an intake and get straight to needles. At Vita Acupuncture, your first visit is a full diagnostic session. We spend time understanding your health history, lifestyle, and goals before designing your treatment plan.

Vita Acupuncture practitioners use traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diagnostic methods - including pulse and tongue assessment and a comprehensive patient intake - to identify underlying patterns that may contribute to your symptoms. This personalized approach forms the foundation for targeted, individualized treatment.

Your first visit includes your comprehensive intake, pattern diagnosis, individualized treatment plan, and your first full treatment — all in one 90-minute appointment.

Your Visit, Step by Step

What Happens During Your First Appointment

Step 01

Comprehensive Intake

Everyone has a story to tell - and your health has a story, too. We take the time to understand yours: your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, diet, sleep, stress, and goals. We also review available lab results, imaging, specialist reports, surgical notes, and records from previous practitioners to understand what you have experienced and tried along the way. By looking at the whole story - not just a single symptom - we can better understand where you are today and create a personalized approach to your care.

Step 02

Pattern Diagnosis

Using classical TCM diagnostic methods — pulse reading, tongue diagnosis, and palpation — we identify the underlying energetic patterns and imbalances driving your condition.

Step 03

Treatment Plan

Based on your diagnosis, we design a personalized treatment plan that may include Acupuncture, herbal medicine, HBOT, red light therapy, or other modalities — tailored to your specific needs.

Step 04

First Treatment

Your recovery is deeply influenced by your own reserve - your body's available capacity to heal, adapt, and respond. Acupuncture works by modulating that reserve, helping your body use its own resources more effectively. Your first full treatment begins during this visit, using the approach that best fits your individual needs.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most patients feel no discomfort. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin - about the thickness of a human hair - and are much finer than hypodermic needles. Once the needles are placed, many patients describe feeling a gentle movement or shift of energy. This may be experienced as warmth, tingling, a subtle wave-like sensation, or sometimes a very pleasant sense of euphoria. Everyone experiences acupuncture differently, but for most people, the sensation is comfortable and enjoyable.

How many sessions will I need?

How many carrots do you need to eat to have a good vision? I need to eat carrots all the time, right? How many times do you need to exercise to feel strong? There is no single number - You do it consistently. Your health needs your participation. Acupuncture can be approached the same way. When you are dealing with an acute or chronic problem, we may recommend more frequent treatments at first. As your body responds and your reserve improves, treatment may become less frequent - perhaps a few times a month as part of your ongoing self-care. A little time invested in your health now can mean less downtime, fewer setbacks, and a much easier road back when life - or illness-takes a toll.

What should I do after my treatment?

Drink plenty of water, avoid strenuous activity for the rest of the day, and rest if possible. Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours. Some patients feel immediate relief; others notice gradual improvement over the following days.

Is acupuncture safe?

Serious adverse events are extremely rare. Yes. Acupuncture is one of the safest medical procedures available when performed by a Licensed Practitioner. Do you accept insurance?

We do not bill insurance directly. Superbills are available upon request and can be submitted to your insurance provider. Coverage and reimbursement depend on your individual insurance plan and benefits.

Do you offer financing or payment plans?

Vita Acupuncture is exploring a partnership with BlossomFi to offer flexible financing options for our services and treatment packages. Once available, eligible patients may be able to begin treatment with no upfront payment and spread the cost over time, subject to credit approval and financing terms. Financing options are not yet available. Additional details will be announced once the program is finalized.
